Meet The Owner

Ines at the counter

Hi, my name is Ines and I am the owner of Sabores. I grew up in Spain until the age of 29 and my cooking skills and recipes come from my family in Spain. My grandmother and my mother were great cooks and I learned from them from a very young age. I was never trusted in the kitchen but I did sit with them for hours and observed while they did preserves and conserves using the vegetables and fruit we grew in the garden, and cooked amazing dishes to bring to the family table.

The Inspiration For Sabores

Las Tascas, Castellon

I grew up in Castellon and, during my twenties, I used to meet my friends at 'Las Tascas' on a regular basis. Las Tascas are a couple of narrow streets in the old town packed full of little family-run bars (called tascas) that give this bustling area its name. They produce the most amazing-tasting food using the best fresh ingredients cooked in a simple way.

There are many tascas all over Spain, and many have now evolved into gastro hubs that offer fine dining and amazing food combinations, but I will always remember the flavours, smells and the experience of eating in the street with friends....and plenty of wine at the traditional tascas. This is where the inspiration for Sabores comes from.

Sabores @ The Market

Market view from Sabores

After many years of working in corporate roles and since my children are now leaving for University, I decided to take a big step in my life and fulfil my long-term dream of running my own little 'Tasca'.

I have always loved the Scarborough Market building, its setting and atmosphere and, when in February 2023, I saw they had a catering unit available I could not but take the chance.

Sabores opened in April 2023 in one of the most amazing places in Scarborough.

Come and see us!
